Foyer Entry. This custom bench from John Derian was a requested find from the homeowner. There are smaller accents from his curated collection throughout the home in accessories and accents, but the length of this bench is stunning and so perfect for the usable space beneath the large round window. Tucked behind the natural spiral of the staircase, it is an unexpected retreat for reading or conversation with a friend or pet! The large satin gold lantern and perfectly coordinated sconces dress the foyer with drama.

Foyer Entry. Let’s start with the spacious front entry foyer. You’ll notice a great mix of family heirloom art, the modern hand knotted rug, matching booked navy chests, and dramatic lighting. The staircase is a dramatic architectural feature. The spiral treads continue up three floors and each landing brings with it a new vista, with each floor a new favorite! Custom iron balusters keep it modern with strong contrast.

Foyer Entry. When we first began the initial concept with a paint palette for the entire home, it included a good amount of this dramatically strong contrast, Iron Ore from Sherwin Williams. Not quite black, stronger than gray…I love it! Brushed gold hardware completes the design and a quartzite countertop along with the natural stone wall adds a bit of organic warmth. The tall narrow cabinet houses favorite wines.

Living Room. The linear fireplace can be appreciated from this view (great room side) and equally from the game room (peek in the 60″ mirror). Dramatic large sliders along the entire exterior wall are dressed with fine custom linen draperies. The same fabric was used throughout the main living space as well as the kitchen to connect the design between the rooms. Effortless tracks glide these panels with ease…note the black satin hardware! Love. This is a great view of the rug too! Originally, this dramatically sized mirror was slated for the foyer, but an installation delay caused us to miss the window of opportunity to use it where we originally planned. We felt it a happy surprise when we decided to then use it here, between the two large sliding doors…the reflection into both adjoining rooms is perfect. Note the interesting sconces on the fireplace wall with large magnifiers. It’s all about pure style.

Living Room. This broad shot of the great room speaks volumes for the style and warmth of a gathering place for family and friends. An open concept with the kitchen to the left and a game room to the right. The custom Vanguard sectional is a personal favorite. Exposed wood trim, performance fabric and contrasting accent pillows make this oversized sectional perfectly paired for family living, lounging and an occasional nap! These activities are the focus of life when the family is here. Water views and bird watching is fabulous from multiple walls of windows on each floor. Two coffee tables booked together to achieve one large surface is one of my signature looks and these did not disappoint. These black framed glass tables provide ample space for displayed collections, yet take little visual space from the room. Of course, I love seeing the fabulous black and cream woven rug with a little Boho influence through the tables as well! And who wouldn’t love a Chinese foot table with a dotted motif as a little side table? Perfection. Black accents in pillows rug, tables, and lamps add the strong contrast to an otherwise natural room. Soothing, but far from bland!

Chef's Kitchen. This finished kitchen is one of my favorite spots in the home! From special appliances to the hood that alone stands as a piece of art and function, along with the clean white subway tile and beautiful hardware, it’s hard to say what part of this room design is my favorite. Once again, the black and white theme rules this room design. Shaker style cabinetry is clean and modern, while the brushed gold hardware speaks the language of style perfectly. Notice the extra long pulls used horizontally for a bold statement. Loads of drawers over doors were specified for easy access of all kitchen needs. I’m a big fan of drawers, drawers, drawers in kitchen design! Note the underlit floating shelves, and this grand hood! It’s a bit difficult to tell, but we used a combination of gold and silver finishes on the hood, which ties all the kitchen finishes together beautifully.

Chef's Kitchen. This angle of the kitchen shows the large work island, striking pendants, overhead sconces above the sink, and the dramatic custom builtin which is not only fabulous display eye candy, but functional for everyday plates and serving pieces. Once again, Iron Ore from Sherwin Williams was selected for the custom paint. I can’t get enough of this color! The pendants are oversized and bring exceptional style to the kitchen. Undersized lighting is often a big kitchen mistake. Be bold! Don’t worry about something larger than you have used in the past. This is sheer perfection. The black iron accent lamp on the side bar gives both function and style, complimenting the strong black accents. The custom fabric valances are from the same fabric used on the large functioning panels in both the great room (seen previously) and the game room. The open concept really is defined and pulled together with the use of one fabric throughout this space.

Chef's Kitchen. This shot is a great study in perfect placement. I have to mention that all of the items are usable and some of them daily! Because of the depth of the color, the white contrast is important. Scale of the objects is just as important and you will find just the perfect amount of natural wood tones to break up the collections. I love that this is both artistic and functional, with interest. The drama of the height of the cabinetry greatly adds to the interest and the beauty of this room. Study this closely for the interesting combination of sculpture-like items that give #purestyle to the bibliotheque. This adds a truly personal touch to the kitchen, it’s just joyful to see the delightful array as you pass through this space. Note the oversized tall doors and the scale of the mullions.

Game Room. The game room was created in theme with family time, pool playing, game playing, and an overflow for eating! Two large chandeliers were centered in the room between the deep coffered moldings, not specifically over tables. A total of 8 satin brass sconces spotlight the collections on the bookshelves. The repetitive use of a single style is both artistic and dramatic. If you zoom in on the door header, you’ll see 4 little french doves! From a Paris vendor, these are something really special. The same lovely drapery peeks from the corner of the room and the dining chairs can be mixed into the formal kitchen table when needed. Philip Jeffries wallpaper and Hartman and Forbes custom window shades add another layer of beauty to this room.

Game Room. Not surprising, Iron Ore from Sherwin Williams sings again here! We wallpapered the backs of the built-ins for interest in texture and contrast and the use of white once more really works here. Meaningful family generational photographs are combined with objects d’art with the same perfect placement Black-eyed Susan is known for. There is balance and scale to consider when doing this kind of accessorizing. This nicely spotlights the row of classic sconces and the satin gold hardware. Two large scaled identical rugs were used in this room, one under the dining table and one under the pool table.

Study. The study was designed with the patriarch of the family in mind. Years of scientific research provided some favorite memorabilia for the shelves, along with collections from world travels. Once again, taking inspiration from the homeowner, we selected this marine blue color and they agreed to go with a high gloss-walls, ceiling and trim! I booked two glass writing desks together, each supported by an acrylic office chair (satin gold legs to compliment the lighting and cabinet hardware). It was the perfect place for a more traditional, yet stylishly chic hand-knotted rug with beautiful blues. You’ll note a bit of whimsy with the brass animal art! Taken from a famous children’s book, Eloise, a fox and a mouse add the perfect touch! The hare is mounted on the opposite wall of the entry into this special room.

Master Bedroom. A four poster bed in black iron was the homeowner’s vision from the beginning. Modern art, a pop of color and custom bedding in satiny smooth, chic textiles speak style here. Again, little room for bedside tables led us to these ceramic stool. They function perfectly for everyday needs while adding contrast and personality. You can see a peek into the master water closet all the way through on the right. Separating the master bedroom and master ensuite is a generous walk in closet (of course!) with mirrored French doors.

Master Bedroom. There is sooooo much about this room to love! Another natural palette of white, naturals and black, yet far from repetitive. Open beams, water view, four poster bed … natural fibers mixed with satiny smooth bed covers. It’s a place to dream in for sure. A pair of small barrel chairs are perfect for morning coffee and water fowl watching. A pair of matching lamps was added to this modern-meets-classic room design. Beautiful custom draperies function to close fully for privacy or sun control. A natural weave with fabulous woven trim placed at just the right place sets the scene for perfection.

Master Bedroom. Another touch I love in this room is the overlaying runner that cuts across just the corner of the natural sisal rug used in this room. All of the wood floors were sealed and left the natural color of white oak. Look hard and you will see the natural sisal. Natural light gray textured fabric with black frames made these chairs a perfect fit for this master suite. Water views entice you to sit and relax.

Master Bathroom. Black and white marble flooring...and yes, radiant heat. A smaller scale marble floor, also in a black and white classic basketweave is the coordinating shower tile. White marble countertops and just a peek of the perfect rug! Take a soak in this luxurious freestanding tub, and don’t worry about all those “eyes” on you! These Fornasetti plates were the vision of the homeowner and we found the perfect configuration to display them with exactness! Satin gold accents complete the high style of this fabulous and personal space.

Bedroom Suite. Blush and boho influence in the bedding and bed bring personality to this bedroom. Enjoy the water view or temper the sun with power operated screen shades, or pull the luscious draperies for room darkening. Chinoiserie tables original to the former family retreat that was leveled act as nightstands here. Soft hues with interest make this room relaxing and personal.

Bedroom Suite.

Bedroom Suite. Just one floor up and this bit of drama lures you in! Each of the 6 bedrooms houses a king size bed, so there was minimal room for night stands. Note the creative use of small accent tables here with a cool pendant over each. Just large enough for a glass of water, cell phone or iPad. There’s plenty of drawer space in the adjoining bathroom, no worries! Note the deep seated custom mattress in the window here. There are a number of these throughout the house. This vision came from the homeowners. A place for relaxing, or an extra overnight guest. Bookshelves with sconces for atmosphere and reading lend a place for accents and collectibles. It’s just dreamy.

Bathroom Suite. Each of the bedrooms have private baths attache. The common palette for these bathrooms was black and white. Classic, timeless, versatile. When this unusually shaped rug came into my store, I snatched it up and it turned out to be just perfect for this bathroom! Dark gray cabinetry, light gray granite and matching mirror cabinets complete this bathroom. This room spotlights the use of black framed windows, used throughout the home. I’m a big fan! The black framed shower doors appear throughout the home as well and add a striking design element. The use of clean white subway tile keeps the look classic and hip at the same time.
